Here’s a simple Christian bedtime routine you can repeat for babies and a bedtime routine for toddlers alike. You can do all five parts, or start with just two and build from there. The goal is a steady peaceful home atmosphere, not a flawless night.

1) Set the Room (5 minutes)

Lower stimulation before you start asking your kids to settle.

  • Dim lights

  • Tidy one small surface (not the whole house)

  • Quiet your own tone first

Helpful tools: a warm night light and sound machine can signal “wind-down time” without making the room bright.

2) Connect First (3 minutes)

Before you correct behavior, reconnect hearts. This is where peace begins.
Try one quick connection question:

  • “What was your favorite part of today?”

  • “What was hard today?” (keep it simple)

  • “Where did you feel brave today?”

This is discipleship, mama. Deuteronomy 6 paints faith as something we talk about in everyday moments—when we sit, walk, lie down, and rise. Bedtime is one of those “lie down” moments.

3) Worship Under It All (1–2 songs)

Play one or two worship songs quietly while you do the practical things: PJs, brushing teeth, last diaper, pulling blankets up. This keeps the room soft even if your child isn’t “participating.”
